I have been editing children’s books and magazines for over 20 years and reading and loving them for years before that!
My intention is to help you make your writing dreams come true, to de-mystify the process of writing dynamic picture books and to give you the tools that will get your manuscript noticed by an editor.
After editing children’s magazines in my native South Africa, I became an editor at Henry Holt and Company and then a Senior Editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books. More recently I have worked as a freelance consultant to various authors, illustrators and publishing houses while raising a son whose first word - after ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada’ - was ‘buk’.
In addition to the many critically and commercially acclaimed books I have edited, I had editorial responsibility for the Bill Martin Books series at Henry Holt and the Growing Tree line of books at HarperCollins. I have worked with some of the most dynamic picture book creators in the publishing business.
